Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Luke DiTommaso knew he wanted to work in Visual Effects from a young age. He received his BFA through the Computer Art program at the School of Visual Arts in New York. Shortly after graduation Luke was working at DuArt in New York City where he encountered a group of like-minded, driven individuals who shared the dream of creating a Visual Effects company.
Twelve years later Luke is the COO and VFX Supervisor for The Molecule, a VFX, Motion Graphics, and VR studio that he helped to grow from that initial group of founders to the team of 85 that exists today in studios in New York and Los Angeles.
At The Molecule Luke manages the top-level producers and supervisors, ensuring the quality and efficiency of the company’s pipeline. He spends much of his time on set, where as Visual Effects Supervisor he has overseen VFX for films including Money Monster and Love and Mercy, as well as TV series “Ballers” (HBO), “The Affair” (Showtime), “The Americans” (FX), “The Path” (Hulu), and many others. In addition to his extensive supervision experience, Luke has directed scenes for “The Path,” and he directs 2nd unit shoots including drone units, driving plates, explosions, and photogrammetry.
Luke is an active member of the Visual Effects Society, Post New York Alliance, and The Directors Guild of America. He is also a senior thesis professor at his alma mater, SVA, guiding the next generation of Visual Effects artists.
